The power of the media

I was watching Cold case today and they showed something that reminded me about the zoo hoax that we talked about in class. It's amazing how easy is for the press to control us, of course that's our own fault in part but... It's still amazing! At first I thought that may be it was something they had made up for the episode but then I realized that they worked with real things, so after the episode I looked up for information about what I had watched, and guess what: it was very real. So, anyway, read this, I know it's in Spanish, but the English version was totally different and I liked this one the better. Hope to read some comments =)
See you,
Tati.

  1. Hi Tati! I am very glad that you remembered the existence of this blog :). I totally agree with you! Nowadays the Media has turned into an dangerous powerful tool. However, we still have the chance to use this very same communication channel to express and debate what is being spread around the globe. Engaging in discussions about the media itself creates a very fertile soil for changes.
The example about O. Welles is really a work of art. Nowadays, producers and editors struggle hard to master the ability to show reality in their own twisted ways. We all percieve our own reality. Even though many newspapers or tv shows claim to be extremely objective, it is really impossible to leave our thoughs and ideas behind.

For those who enjoy reading, I would like you to try the following book: A brave new world from Aldoux Huxley. It is a wonderful and catchy novel about happiness and how is it that we obtain it.

I leave you all the link for the spanish book translated as "Un Mundo Feliz"

Just clik the right button and save link as...

    Enjoy your holidays!!

  6. I'm fine, tired, really tired, I leave home at 8 am and come back at 8 pm (except mondays and wednesdays when i come back at around 9:30 pm), but i'm also enjoying university. I already had my first test and i saved it, and now i have two more in May...
I don't know very much about the rest... except for Pablo, of course. I talked to Flo Magnone a couple of times on facebook, but that's it. I know that Ismael, Diego, Damián, Matías and Germán are going to Engineering, Flo M and Flo B are going to Chemistry and Flo P is going to Economy... But i haven't heard from them since classes started...
And how are you? I saw Fabiana the other day in a bus but i couldn't say hello to her, do you know anything about her and her children?

  7. Great to hear from you! The first year in university is always a mess in terms of timetables. Don´t worry! You will manage just fine.
I have plenty of work this year. I am doing the practice at IAVA, in a fourth grade. My cooperating teacher also gave me the chance to help her in a hearing impaired group. It is really amazing.
Fabiana is doing fine. I met her on tuesday and her daughters are gorgeous!! She is presenting a theatre play on saturdays. I will send you the information in case you are interested and want to pay a visit :).

Greetings to Pablo!! and the rest of the guys if you happen to meet them!

    Good luck at university.

I will be posting some material here every now and then so feel free to invite the rest.

    Take care!
